- Course Purpose:
A successful Analytics career requires academic knowledge and professional skills, to pursue an internship or full-time role. As an Analytics professional it is important to build core competencies in communication, critical thinking, leadership and management, industry-specific knowledge, communication, professionalism, teamwork, and ethics, and the Masters of Analytics offers a Career Foundations +Engagement course to offer such content and training. To be successful in the job market it is important to plan and prepare.The Career Foundations +Engagement course covers multiple skills required to succeed in graduate school and beyond, including selecting career options, job application and negotiation, and interviews, through lectures, group discussions, and practical exercises.
- Course Overview:
This course is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers as analytics professionals. Through a combination of interactive workshops, assignments, and practical exercises, students will develop a comprehensive toolkit for career development, including networking, resume building, interview preparation, and effective communication.
- Objectives/Description:
The goal of this course is to provide Master of Analytics students with an understanding of how career development occurs, from various theoretical, practitioner, professional and industry standpoints, while also taking into consideration the professional and personal contribution that an individual adds to shape and create the career professional. Students will be exposed to curriculum around career culture, application methods and processes, industry/alumni panels, industry professionals, workshops and co-curricular experiences in the field of analytics. By the conclusion of this course, students should be able to articulate their career goals, have created materials to apply for full-time and internship roles, developed networking and brand identity, and be able to research, identify and apply for professional opportunities across industries.
