IEOR Alum Mauricio G. C. Resende Chosen As INFORMS Fellow For Class Of 2016

Mauricio G. C. Resende was chosen to be a 2016 INFORMS fellow. Resende received his PhD in Operations Research ('87) at the University of California Berkeley. Currently, he works as a principle research scientist for Amazon.com, Inc.
According to INFORMS, Mauricio G. C. Resende was selected as an INFORMS fellow "for major contributions to the development and application of metaheuristics for optimization problems, including the invention of the widely-used Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP)."
The INFORMS fellows are exemplary scientists specializing in operations research and management sciences and have demonstrated exceptional lifetime achievement and accomplishments significantly contributing to the advancement of OR/MS. Their service and dedication has culminated in election to the INFORMS Fellow Award.
