Over 90 alumni, faculty, and staff attended out Alumni Reunion
On Thursday November 2nd, over 90 IEOR alumni, faculty, and staff members reunited with great food and inspiring speakers. The IEOR Alumni network encompasses over 500 members from various backgrounds and professions including but not limited to: professors, CEOs, engineers, and analysts.
The night started with delicious refreshments and networking. Followed by four amazing IEOR alumni speakers.
The night started with Auren Hoffman (IEOR ’96) and his talk comparing data and algorithms in machine learning: “Data beats algorithms in machine learning”. Auren Hoffman is a venture capitalist and an angel investor. He is the current CEO of SafeGraph and the former cofounder and CEO of LiveRamp.
The second speaker, Michelle Fisher (IEOR ’86) discussed about “Innovation in companies and startups”. Michelle Fisher is the CEO and Founder of Blaze Mobile, a 10 year-old Berkeley company developing mobile commerce, health care, banking, and advertising solutions. She has successfully raised millions of dollars in private financing for Blaze and has nearly fifty patents pending.
Following two inspiring talks, Ian Vacin (IEOR ’99) and Daniel Johnson (IEOR ’89) briefly spoke about “Lessons learning from the tech, accounting & the long road of SaaS” and “Practical Optimization for the Supply Chain”.
The night ended with alumni networking and reuniting over drinks and refreshments. Thank you alumni, faculty, and staff for attending our reunion!
