Who We Are

Nuro is a robotics start-up whose mission is to accelerate the benefits of robotics for everyday life. We have an elite team of entrepreneurs and engineers, designers, and scientists. We believe AI and robotics are at the cusp of transforming daily life and we are dedicated to building meaningful products with this technology. Join us and play a critical role in our mission.

About the Role

Conduct Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for ongoing Nuro mechanical engineering projects to help our design team better understand environmental impact and carbon footprint of our material, manufacturing, and supply chain decisions.

About the Work

  • Work directly with mechanical engineering and supply chain teams to understand all aspects of making a Nuro AV system, including raw materials, manufacturing, and supply chain logistics
  • Review available Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software tools and select the best option for analyzing our products, complete training as needed to become proficient using it
  • Consolidate input data required to complete LCA and document accordingly, while working across Nuro teams to track down any information not immediately available
  • Complete life cycle assessment using the LCA tool and consolidated data
  • Analyze the results, confirm input assumptions for most sensitive variables, prepare content to summarize findings, and communicate results to the design team
  • Work closely with designers to help them interpret the findings and understand promising opportunities for improvement
  • Research end-of-life impact and assess recycling or other opportunities to reduce waste

About You

  • Jr, Sr, or MS student in any major with relevant coursework in sustainability, environmental science, life cycle assessment (LCA), and carbon footprint analysis, graduating December 2022 or later
  • Understanding of what LCA is, how it’s done, and why it’s important
  • Experience using LCA software tools such as SimaPro, GaBi, openLCA, or Mobius for internships or student projects preferred, or willingness to learn as part of internship
