As a Guest Service Intern with University Center in Chicago, you are able to gain knowledge of what it is like to work in a full-service hotel! We provide a unique experience for individuals by allowing them to rotate between 3 primary positions:

  • Guest Service Agent
  • Based at our Guest Service Desk in the main lobby, they are assisting with the day-to-day responsibilities that an employee working the front desk at a hotel would do
  • Check-in(s) and check-out(s)
  • Creating group binders for our group housing
  • Daily concierge duties that our guests may need
  • Conducting tours of the property as needed
  • Answer the phone and provide general information on University Center and our summer housing
  • Answer emails that are sent to our Summer Housing inbox
  • Show guests to their rooms when they first check-in
  • Room Attendant
  • Our interns work hand-in-hand with our housekeeping staff by acting as a housekeeping lead
  • Inspecting all guest rooms prior to check-in and after a guest has checked-out
  • Entering any needed work orders for damages
  • Ensuring all additional amenities have been added to the rooms (ex. Linen packages)
  • Assisting Guest Service Agents as needed during downtime
  • Assist with showing guests to their rooms when they first check-in
  • Supervisor
  • Based at our Guest Service Desk in the main lobby with our Guest Service Agents
  • Acts as a direct contact for our guests without needed management to answer any questions or listen to any complaints as needed
  • Completes any additional projects from management

As a Guest Service Intern, they will be working 40 hours a week. They are also paid Chicago’s minimum wage, which is currently $13.50/hr, and live on-site at University Center. Their schedule would be as follows:

  • Mornings: 7am-3:30pm
  • Swing Shift: 10am-6:30pm
  • Evening: 3pm-11:30pm
  • Overnights: 11pm-7am
