Staff Research Associate I
Position description for Aneurysm Material property Testing
The Cardiac Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of California San Francisco and San Francisco VA is seeking a short-term 2-3 month contract to perform soft tissue material property testing using a custom built biaxial/uniaxial stretcher of human tissue. This tissue would undergo surgical dissection into small samples for biaxial stretch testing, and directional uniaxial failure testing as well as peeling testing and directional uniaxial failure testing of peeled samples. A BS in mechanical engineering or higher degree is desired with prior course work in soft tissue mechanics and ideally previous experience in stretch testing. Experience in human tissue handling and dissection also preferred. This work will lead to authorship for those interested in graduate programs or medical school.
