Position Title:               Senior Business Analyst

Reports to:                    Manager/Director

Employment Status:  Full-Time

Position Overview:

A Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting other Farient professionals through data accumulation and analysis in support of client, marketing, and other firm development projects, including the creation of methodologies, models, and templates. A Senior Analyst is expected to mentor/train more junior Analysts and should have prior work experience and/or post-secondary education.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

§ Developing a detailed knowledge of client’s and prospective client’s business, financials, and compensation programs, and summarizing such knowledge for other consulting staff

§ Supporting business development through research on prospects

§ Proactively managing client delivery schedules, including managing work processes to meet deadlines and keeping colleagues informed of progress

§ Supporting firm quality standards through careful fact-checking, quality control, and rigorous adherence to methodological standards

§ Gathering data and conducting analyses in support of client deliverables, including, but not limited to, competitive compensation analyses (retrospective, current, and prospective analyses for corporate executives and board directors), competitive performance analyses, equity dilution and overhang analyses, and pay-for-performance assessments

§ Supporting marketing and firm intellectual capital development through research and analysis, as directed

§ Developing tools, templates, and analytical models for the Firm as needed to support consistency and quality across clients

§ Train Analysts on financial analyses, methodologies and Farient templates

§ Draft detailed client reports and deliverables

 

Competencies

§ Working knowledge of compensation benchmarking analyses, including proxy and survey data analysis and competitive program design review

§ Familiarity with concepts of corporate finance and business strategy, including basic corporate accounting

§ Familiarity of accounting and regulatory aspects of executive compensation design, including 162(m), FAS123R, 409A, SEC disclosure requirements, and listing requirements related to executive compensation

§ Basic knowledge of executive program design concepts including pay mix, vehicles, leverage, performance cycles, etc.

§ Self-starter with strong ability to balance multiple work streams and meet deliverable deadlines.

§ Strong quantitative skills, including use and analysis of large data sets, and facility with relatively sophisticated mathematical and statistical concepts and models

§ Mastery of software applications, including financial and compensation databases, and Microsoft Windows suite (i.e., Excel, Word, Power Point)

§ Highly analytic and critical mindset

§ Detail oriented with high standards of quality

§ Strong work ethic

 

Required Education and Work Experience

§ BA in Economics, Business or related field

§ Previous work experience in executive compensation consulting (1-2 years)
