The Public Advocates Office represents residential and small business interests at the California Public Utilities Commission. Our mission is to ensure that customers receive safe and reliable utility services at the lowest possible rates. We participate in Commission proceedings and processes, including workshops, rulemakings, investigations, hearings, utility filings, and other forums. These processes set how much customers pay for their utilities, the quality of service they receive, and the rules companies must follow to maintain safe and reliable service. The Communications and Water Policy Branch (CWP) leads the Public Advocates Office’s policy development on matters related to the communications and water industry. The Cross-Industry Policy and Spatial Analysis Section in the CWP Branch will work on policies to achieve universal access to broadband service in California, customer protections for water service, hold companies accountable for delivering reliable and affordable communication and water services, and conduct quantitative and qualitative research on communications services and water policies that impact Californians every day. The incumbent will be part of the Cross-Industry Policy and Spatial Analysis Section in the CWP Branch and may be assigned work in other areas and branches of the organization, as directed. Please visit www.publicadvocates.cpuc.ca.gov for more information on the Public Advocates Office.
