The VMware Discovery Team is a great place to engage your Program Management, Operations and Marketing skills as you will be using all of these to support and evangelize the live product demonstration environments used by our customers, partners, and internal teams. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within 30 days of joining the team, become competent with the Discovery Team’s offerings, tools and team structure.
Within 90 days of employment, you will be learning operations and event processes, be able to participate in event planning, project management and marketing activities and support operations and Go to Market activities
Within 360 days, along with the above, you will be able to plan events, create and manage projects in accordance with team needs as well as support the team from an operational standpoint by understanding the team tools, dynamics and structure.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
This is a hands-on role where you will be leveraging your project management skills to facilitate the on-time and within scope delivery of essential events and projects. You will develop an understanding of our team’s offerings, our value proposition and directly contribute to VMware’s success by marketing VMware products and solutions in line with VMware sales goals.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
In this role, you will be part of a new global Discovery Team that creates compelling, hands-on content to assist our field, partners and customers in achieving their goals and vision using VMware products.
The hiring manager for this role is Kelly Smith, Manager of the Operations Team within the new Discovery Team. She has been part of the Hands-on Labs program at VMware for over 3 years as a Program Manager and Operations Architect has been managing the Operations Team for the past two years.
Kelly’s management philosophy centers on enablement and learning. She encourages members of the team to learn as much as possible about the program and provide thoughtful feedback regarding identified opportunities to evolve and grow. She wants her team to be able to think independently while working together, knowing that she is available to provide support when needed.
Kelly looks for people who can think holistically, develop solutions, and follow through by executing on a plan.
You will be part of a small team that has primary responsibility for managing projects and events, evangelizing the team and VMware, and supporting the team’s operations on a daily basis.
We have a workstream-based approach that facilitates a comprehensive understanding of the program and cross-training while preserving the ownership and responsibility required to drive our projects to completion.
Where is this role located?
Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.
