The internship period is from June 12 to August 14, 2022, working 35 hours a week. 

Note: This internship is intended be a blended remote/in-office role. Therefore, it will require NY-based location.

 

About the role:

The intern will provide support to our NY and UK production/content management teams. They will learn and assist in the coordination of all editorial–production and manufacturing aspects for a journal’s production, from receipt of manuscripts through distribution of journal, including overseeing copyediting/proofreading, trafficking of proofs, and preparation of copy for press. They will liaise with editors, managing editors, authors, and internal teams (marketing, ad sales, supply chain, etc.) recognizing the key role the production editor has to play in customer relations management. Additionally, they will provide important support on departmental projects that will help us innovate, refresh, and refine our workflows, databases, and team resources.

 

We will also provide the opportunity to choose areas of the business that particularly interest them so that we can tailor their work/projects accordingly and support their career interests in publishing.

 

About you:  You should have the following:

  • A firm understanding and appreciation of grammatical and stylistic rules.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A detail-oriented, efficient, and entrepreneurial mind.
  • An interest in a publishing, production, or operations career.
  • The ability to multi-task, and work under deadline pressure.
  • The ability to learn, absorb, and interpret diverse types of data from multiple sources.
  • A proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel is a plus.
