Job Summary:

This is an opportunity for a health care data science specialist in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. The mission of the Amorim Lab is to accelerate neurological recovery of patients with acute brain injury through advancements in brain monitoring technologies. Our research program is combining neurophysiology, neuroimaging, and artificial intelligence methods to pursue innovative and rigorous scientific research in the field of coma neuroscience, and our ultimate goal is helping patients with traumatic brain injury, cardiac arrest, epilepsy, and stroke.

By joining our research laboratory at UCSF, you will be responsible for designing and deploying cutting-edge brain physiology models using large EEG datasets. Knowledge or experience with signal processing analysis such as fourier and wavelet methods using EKG, EEG, NIRS, or other physiologic time-series would be preferred. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to develop signal processing pipelines and algorithms for multimodal bio-signals as well as integrate neurophysiology signals to neuroimaging and electronic health records data. Our team and collaborators have expertise in machine learning (online learning, graphical models, GAN, unsupervised and semi-supervised learning), deep learning (CNN, LSTM), and quantitative structural and functional brain MR imaging. We are a diverse team with members from various ethnic, gender, and language backgrounds who are committed to implementing equity-relevant and inclusive research as well as promote the professional and personal development of all members of our team. Your work will support the development of transformative and cutting-edge technologies that will bring precision medicine to millions of Americans affected by coma and other severe neurological emergencies every year.
