Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Working as part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, you will help electric and gas utilities and regulators to meet their clean energy, energy demand management, grid modernization, decarbonization, and energy equity program goals. You will conduct data-intensive research and analysis to project energy savings and renewable energy development opportunities and develop tools that will allow decision-makers to plan for a clean energy future. You will distill your research findings and interpret the results to draw meaningful conclusions and produce actionable recommendations. You will present your research, conclusions, and recommendations in succinct and visually compelling reports and presentations.

 

In this position you will have the opportunity to work on/support multiple projects at the same time and broaden your knowledge of clean energy and the utility sector.  In a typical day you might do the following: build an Excel-based model to estimate the cost effectiveness of different policy options for to promote renewable energy, run R-based models to estimate statewide energy efficiency opportunities for the next ten years, conduct interviews with home-builders to understand how construction practices are changing, coordinate meetings with a wide variety of clean-energy stakeholders, write-up your research findings for published and un-published papers, develop innovative approaches to solving clean energy challenges, conduct secondary research about emerging energy storage systems, or present your work to external or internal projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis and research regarding renewable energy, energy demand management, energy equity, and decarbonization, as assigned by project managers
  • Apply quality assurance methods to work products
  • Participate in project and team meetings, and conduct internal and external presentations of work
  • Engage with team members to develop business opportunities, contribute to project proposals, and brainstorm approaches to meet client needs

Qualifications

  • Data analysis skills in Excel and R (Python and GIS experience a plus)
  • Strong research abilities and intrinsic curiosity of how the world works (demonstrated interest and background in the energy sector preferred)
  • Minimim Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, data analytics, or similar discipline
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate with a diverse group of project stakeholders
  • Motivation to contribute to contribute to a clean-energy future
