The interdisciplinary team at Iowa’s Integrated Data System for Decision-Making (I2D2) includes faculty, professional staff, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students who work closely with government agencies and statewide stakeholders to provide relevant data for decision-making to advance system-level coordination among early childhood services. I2D2 works to transform state administrative data to answer important questions about how our systems are working and improve system coordination and effectiveness for Iowa families. The I2D2 Data Analyst will provide valuable support in accomplishing team goals and meeting project deadlines. This position will work closely with I2D2 Administrators, senior data management staff and project analysts to directly maintain data documentation processes, continue development of data screening protocols, and conduct preliminary project analytics. Strong candidates will have excellent organizational and communications skills, meticulous attention to detail, ability to work both independently and as part of multiple project teams, and an enthusiasm for learning new technical skills, methodologies, and processes. 

Example of Duties

  • Maintain and update data documentation, manuals, and user’s guides for existing I2D2 data holdings
  • Extend documentation processes to new data systems that enter I2D2
  • Perform initial data screening of variables and produce suitability documentation for project analysts
  • Create analysis variables following standardized protocols and generate summary statistical information
  • Perform frequency and descriptive analyses for subgroups to support analytic projects and feed I2D2’s Data Drive interactive dashboard
  • Produce summary tables, results visualizations, and supplemental technical data/analytic materials for inclusion in policy briefs, project reports, presentations, and publications
