Consulting for Major Healthcare Organization on a Merit Scholarship, led by an MBB Alumni

Beacon is currently offering a limited number of fully funded internships to consult for a major healthcare organization for 3 weeks in Washington, DC from July 16 – August 5, 2022. This short term internship is ideal for those who want to gain valuable consulting experience for a name-brand organization under the guidance of an MBB project lead.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a current Freshman or Sophomore in college the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada. A GPA of 3.7 or above is required. Must be able to demonstrate that consulting is one of the top two preferred fields for post-grad work; this one is very important.

Real Consulting. Elite Brands. Study Abroad.

Beacon utilizes an elite-tier consultant as the primary instructor, and an intense, on-premise consulting project for an impressive brand to give students the ability to perform in consulting and helps to signal interest in consulting, all of this gained while studying abroad.

Alumni receive offers at top 10 firms.

At Beacon, we place students in an intensive, real-world consulting environment, which would otherwise be impossible to experience outside of working as a first-year consultant at a top-tier firm. Beacon Fellows complete in-depth projects for our client partners, and from day one, they are challenged to demonstrate their real capacity for problem solving and analysis, as well as the professionalism and communication skills required in client services. Beacon Fellows are then able to point to their deliverables and the professional recommendation of their MBB Project Lead in order to break into the most competitive business environments. Our alumni have received offers from all top 10 consulting firms, including McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, PwC, EY, Accenture and more.

What makes this experience unique?

Consulting firms look for “can do” and “will do” in candidates. More than just an internship or study abroad program, the Beacon model utilizes an elite-tier consultant as the primary instructor, and instead of a classroom, learning takes place in a several-week, intense, on-premise consulting project for a top organization, itself an impressive brand. Beacon alumni consistently excel in consulting applications and interviews because their Beacon experience uniquely (1) shows ability to perform in consulting and (2) signals interest in consulting beyond mere words, all of this gained (3) while studying abroad in a single or multi-country program.

Previous Project with Healthcare Focus: In 2021, this type of internship was conducted with Children’s National Hospital, ranked among the leading healthcare institutions in the world. The team conducted an in-depth data analysis of children’s health outcomes within the primary and secondary service areas of Children’s National Hospital. They identified the census tracts with the lowest levels of childhood opportunity and determined which factors contribute most to the disparities in opportunity. Another team developed focus group and interview guides to solicit input from community members on the question of improving childhood opportunity in their neighborhoods. This team also identified key stakeholders and prepared a qualitative report on the neighborhoods with the lowest opportunity scores. The project was designed to both support the team at Children’s National Hospital in their mid to long-term projects, and to enable Fellows to develop a wide range of consulting skills

How to Apply: Candidates for fully funded merit scholarships must submit their resume through Handshake. Applicants will be notified regarding whether they have been invited to interview.
