The Analyst Program is designed to provide junior professionals the opportunity to learn about asset management through a variety of methods, including working with senior professionals, building models, forecasting, authoring underwriting memos, working on valuations across different asset classes, managing reporting and amendments for existing investments, and actively participating in training and team-building activities. After the program, outstanding performers will be considered for roles of increased responsibility. Opportunities are available in various teams across Barings.Qualifications: Candidates in their final year of their Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for graduates in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics or related degree, with planned completion date of May/June 2021Minimum 3.3 GPAStrong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various technology publicationsExcellent writing and communications skills and ability to work as a member of a fast-paced, transaction oriented teamSelf-starter, must be organized and able to work independentlyAbility to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilitiesStrong attention to detailAbility to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlinesSome travel required (<25%)Goals of Analyst Program:For the Analyst to gain experience that will allow junior professionals to:Gain a better understanding of identifying quality risk/return opportunitiesDevelop proficiency in modeling, financial analysis, and business writingDevelop skills, professionalism, and experience that will translate into future roles with greater responsibility whether at Barings or another firm.For the Firm – to train junior professionals such that they are able to provide leverage to senior professionals, while utilizing them in a manner such that high performers will want to remain with the Firm.Expectations of an Analyst:Diligence/strong work ethicAttention to detailGood time managementResponsivenessProactivenessCuriosity and Desire to LearnReliabilityProfessionalismTeam-orientedDuring the tenure of the program, successful analysts will display high levels of competency in the following areas:ModelingFinancial analysisBusiness writingIdentifying key investment merits and risk/mitigantsDelivering work product that is limited in errors and presentation readyStrong understanding of portfolio management responsibilities
