Job Summary:
The Assistant to the General Manager supports the General Manager of the company in all operational areas including parking lots, garages, valet services, human resources, customer service and marketing and administrative support. This is supervisory and administrative work assisting the general manager in conducting the overall operation of the California Parking Company parking services program and related parking facilities management and operations. Work involves some training and supervision of parking services personnel and providing assistance to the general manager in the day-to-day planning and execution of company policies and procedures. Duties are performed under the supervision of the general manager and are reviewed by observation of results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the general manager and actively participates in planning and developing parking services programs, policies, and procedures and facilities and service upgrades.
Provide support to general manager in regard to hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training new employees. Assisting in the day-to-day management of team members to ensure that performance standards are met
Gathers needed information to address inquiries and complaints regarding parking services policies, procedures, and facilities.
Keep site managers abreast of any management concerns in a timely and efficient manner and resolving issues as quickly as possible in their absence.
Act as a point of contact to client; attend location meetings as appropriate, and respond to client requests in order to maintain a good working relationship.
As required monitor maintenance of the parking facilities and associated premises to ensure that the garage/lot is clean, safe, and maintained to standards; supervise on-going maintenance projects to ensure quality and timely completion.
Assist in the supervision of ticket inventory, cash flow, reports, and audits to prevent loss through theft, error, or carelessness.
Assist general manager in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports as required.
Fill in to provide coverage for front line positions, as needed.
Use professional and respectful communication to assist guests with their questions, problems, and concerns; address escalated concerns from guests. Communicate professionally at all times with guests, client, and teammates.
Immediately respond to reports of accidents, incidents or safety concerns.
Prepares brochures, maps, and informational materials for public dissemination via the web site, social media platforms, email or other processes.
Assumes administrative responsibility in absence of general manager including decision making and personnel direction.
Performs related work as required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Graduation from an accredited college or university supplemented by experience in the area of parking organization, supervisory, and management experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of parking services policies, procedures, and operational facilities.
Ability to recruit, schedule, and supervise the training and duties of subordinates.
Ability to interact with a wide variety of people firmly and courteously.
Must possess supervisory experience.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of and working skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work in a high-energy environment, handle multiple tasks, and work within time constraints.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Work Environment:
For the most part the employee will be exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The employee may be required to be on work sites as required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some weekend and holiday work may be required.
Travel:
Local travel is expected with this position.
