The Leidos Surface Transportation Solutions Portfolio is seeking a Transportation Data Scientist (Intern) to support data science application in the ground transportation areas of Operations, Safety, Freight, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA), Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), and Automated Vehicle (AV) technologies. We are looking for detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated and highly organized candidates with excellent communication and writing skills. The candidate will be responsible for assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions supporting data management, transfer, analysis and visualization on various transportation safety and operations projects including use of big data and incorporating AI/ML.  The candidate will be responsible for assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions.  The candidate is expected to work 40 hours a week.  The role may require some travel to project sites (within the DMV area) to support meetings, including meeting preparation and facilitation, writing meeting proceedings reports, and supporting web-conferences and webinars. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Conducting research on various transportation engineering projects and developing data-driven solutions to complex problemsSupporting data management, transfer, analysis and visualization on various transportation safety and operations projects including use of big data and incorporating AI/MLDevelop content and engagement strategies for stakeholder engagement activities in our current plans/roadmaps.Monitor technical support request tickets and responds to all tickets within project-mandated timeframes.Managing and editing public and private documentation stores on online knowledge portals in addition to tracking metrics to support tech transfer.Identifying opportunities and seeking funding, participating in growth strategy sessions, and communicating with current and potential customers on upcoming opportunitiesAssist in the development and integration of data science capabilities across multiple task orders within the program.Developing, supporting, and reviewing technical proposals.Developing document, reports, manuals, presentations to communicate project results, both orally and in writing, in a way that is understandable and usable by the target audience(s) for the projectsAuthor white papers, proposals, and briefings demonstrating technical thought leadership in response to Leidos leadership or customer needs.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education & Experience:Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or, PhD. in relevant technical fields such as engineering, data science, or communications.
