Job Description And Duties
This position is designated as “remote-centered” per CDTFA’s Telework Policy and Guidelines; however, changes to the telework program are at the department’s discretion.

The Tax Auditor position is an entry-level position in a series that provides many opportunities for advancement. This position is under the supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor II and performs the least to moderately difficult field audits or examinations of feepayer’s accounts and records.
The CDTFA promotes and supports telework and this position will also require travel up to 50% of the time. Travel may occur both in and out of state as we have taxpayers and feepayers throughout the U.S.
The incumbent in this position will learn the application of tax laws as they will be responsible for:
- Analyzing business records and fee payer claims for refunds.
- Corresponding with taxpayers, attorneys, and accountants.
