Our Gridtern Program allows current college students to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will start with us on June 5th 2023 and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking, and opportunities to get involved in your community and have fun!

 

Intern responsibilities will vary based upon your area of interest and department placement. Applying to this opportunity confirms your interest in being considered for one or more of the below departments for summer 2023:

 

Customer and Community LI, Corporate Affairs (Melville, NY)

Our Community and Customer Management team interacts with various customer groups and community stakeholders. These groups include elected officials, Chambers of Commerce, economic development agencies, community-based organizations, local development councils and business associations. For the summer you will have the ability to work closely with Community Coordinators to assist in various volunteer activities and meetings within the community, as well as oversee the maintenance of customer accounts.

 

Customer End-to-End Process (Melville, NY)

Our Customer End-to-End Process team focuses on improving the processes around our most important interactions with our customers. The team monitors process health and implements changes to the current ways of working which will improve customer satisfaction, employee effectiveness, and cost savings. For the summer you will work with the team to identify and implement business process improvements and best practices. You will also help manage current projects and track their progress to ensure their timely completion.

Gas Pipeline Safety Compliance Improvement (Melville, NY)

Our Gas Pipeline Safety Compliance Improvement team is responsible for performing risk reviews, driving improvements, and assessing incidents to increase improvements to the incident analysis process. For the summer you will assist the team with improving the company’s compliance culture by working with key internal stakeholders.

 

Global Procurement (Hicksville, NY)

Our Sustainability team within the Global Procurement organization manages the supply chain sustainability, social/economic, and environmental agendas. The team works to embed sustainability into our supply chain and contract delivery functions. For the summer you will mainly be supporting the annual CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) supply chain climate change program. This program will allow you to work internally with your team members and manage supplier engagement activities.

 

Information & Records Management (Hicksville, NY)

Our Information & Records Management team helps to maintain the records for our company. This includes reviewing/maintaining the records and identifying which records contain personal identifiable information. For the summer you will oversee our records management database and supply records to requesting customers, employees, etc.  

Investment Planning (Melville, NY)

The Investment Planning team is responsible for our 10-year gas investment plan and supporting our Gas organization through rate cases. The team works with our asset owners to identify work required to keep the system safe and reliable, forecast that work, enable asset owners to prioritize the work using asset management system, and approval from our regulators for our rate cases. For the summer you will be responsible to work with the team to use data manipulation tools to analyze data and work with the business to progress work orders into a state where the company can be remunerated.

 

NY Corporate Affairs (Melville, NY)

Our NY Corporate Affairs team works to identify new stakeholders in the faith-based community and small and disadvantage businesses who can participate in our weatherization and energy efficiency program called, The Grid Collective – Growing New York’s Green Businesses and Jobs. For the summer you will help the team to support these initiatives by volunteering at community events, managing and recruiting volunteers, administrative support for educational series, managing and recruiting companies to participate in the TGC, and developing marketing and media promotions.

What You’ll Need

  • Availability to start on program start date, June 5, 2023
  • Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2023 Semester
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree
  • Majoring in Business, Marketing, Sustainability, Project Management, or a related field
  • Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
  • Located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer
  • Some Gridtern positions will require a valid US Driver’s license. This qualification will be included in the department specific Gridtern role(s) descriptions at point of interview

Salary Range

$20.00 – $25.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)

$28.00 – $33.00 an hour (Graduate Student)

 

Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year.
