•   Work with External Manufacturing suppliers to ensure that Evonik outsourced production needs are met with regard to production timing, cost, product quality, etc.

•   Negotiate and execute external manufacturing contracts in line with business goals and objectives

•   Purchase order and contract signing authority up to $500k

•   Daily collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain and Business Line stakeholders to develop and execute discrete external manufacturing projects

•   Conduct data/cost analyses to assess current suppliers’ variable and fixed cost/pricing structures, as well as collaborate with other strategic buyers on raw material market intelligence and leverage existing supplier relationships to support and develop savings opportunities

•   Conduct make/buy analyses with cross-functional colleagues to support the external outsourcing decision-making process

•   Conduct risk assessment exercises related to supply security, regionality, cost, technical capability, commercial viability, etc. and provide feedback and recommendations to business lines 

•   Ensure sustainability initiatives and audits are incorporated into external manufacturing partnerships and contracts

•   Closely collaborate with global external manufacturing procurement team and divisional leadership to develop corporate-wide strategies and standard processes within the external manufacturing basket 

•   Conduct internal and external research to contribute innovative and continuous improvement ideas (technology, cost/benefit, team needs etc.) within the function

•   Develop a global mind-set by forming professional networks within the global Procurement organization.

•   Participate in recommended training and development programs and learn from experiences and adjust as needed.

•   Graduate degree (MBA) in one of the following majors preferred: Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Operations or related fields

•   B.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

•   Prior experience working in a chemical or process-focused manufacturing environment

•   Minimum GPA of 3.0 and previous internship experience in related fields preferred

•   Affinity for technology and digitalization

•   Proficient in Microsoft Office products

•   Must be domestically and internationally mobile

•   Be available to work full-time employment in 2021
