Job Description
Heron Systems has developed a software factory for building and optimizing deep reinforcement learning-based solutions. The technology has drawn significant interest from DARPA, AFRL and the US Navy. We are currently working with these customers to investigate modern warfighting problems and develop prototype solutions. This position will support the research and development of new technologies that will be required to accomplish our goals in autonomy and manned-unmanned teaming.
What you’ll do:
- Work with a small team that includes senior ML researchers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
- Perform research and development activities of one or more projects.
- Work semi autonomously, leveraging state-of-the-art techniques and designing novel solutions for complex problems.
- Coordinate closely with our Government customers and industry partners to ensure that the solutions meet the rigorous demands of defense technologies.
- Work on complex and unique datasets.
Required qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in software development and machine learning.
- Software development experience in Python, C++ is a plus.
- Fast, efficient, effective problem-solving approach.
- Strong ability to debug, optimize, refactor, and write tests.
- Exceptional collaborator and communicator.
- Ability to work semi-autonomously and clearly discuss/convey the results of your work.
- Ability to learn new subjects quickly.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Current SECRET clearance: candidates without an active clearance must be able to obtain one.
- USA citizenship. Non-citizens, even permanent residents, will not be considered.
