Acts as lead over the business continuity function for the Department, working collaboratively to create and maintain business continuance/continuity plans. Must study the State requirements, resources, and best practices to develop and continuously improve DFW continuity planning efforts. Through collaborative sessions and internal partnerships, develops plans to address organizational needs. Responsible for the process of documenting and reporting these plans, as well as continuously updating them.
Acts as lead in completing the State Leadership Accountability Act (SLAA) requirement for the Department, and works continuously to ensure the process reduces organizational risk. Collaborates with staff around the Department to gather key risk assessment information, develop strategies to address the risks identified, and capture and report the efforts twice each year.
Participate in external professional meetings to represent DFW and remain current in the fields of policy development and program management, risk management, business continuity, and to continuously monitor industry trends.
Contemporary office setting. The job involves sitting much of the time, but with some walking or standing for brief periods. Ability to use a keyboard several hours per day. Some occasional travel may be required but is expected to be infrequent and minimized with the use of video conference and teleconference technology.
In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Knowledge and experience with Department-wide emergency and continuity planning;
• Knowledge and experience with risk identification, assessment, and mitigation concepts;
• Ability to demonstrate experience clearly framing a problem and collecting the necessary data to develop and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations for action;
• Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present research and analytical findings to a variety of audiences whether in person, in front of a large group, or in writing;
• Ability to work in team-oriented environment;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
