Under the general direction of a Research Data Supervisor II in the Special Projects, Evaluations, and Research Administration (SPEAR) team in the Research and Evaluation Branch of the CDCR Office of Research, the Research Data Specialist (RDS) II is responsible for research duties related to the evaluation of correctional programs using corrections data. The RDS II independently performs complex data analysis in response to ad-hoc research and reporting requests. The RDSII utilizes software programs to query, validate, format, and organize structured and unstructured data to assess potential impact in areas where changes are being implemented and a body of knowledge or experience does not exist.
The RDSII is also responsible for coordinating, designing, and directing complex research projects or activities, which may involve defining and creating new data models and visualizations to meet departmental needs.
