Summary of Role 

The OMC (Organic Meat Company) Production Planning Analyst is responsible for managing inventory and planning production with a goal of increasing fill rates while minimizing fresh to frozen inventory. This role works in a team setting with Production, Planning, and QA to manage weekly inventory levels. This role also works with internal departments to move through excess product as well as working with OMC production facilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage an appropriate level of product inventory at all warehouse locations

• Work with Sales and Category Management to discuss any anticipated increases or decreases in volume

• Work with Sales and Category Management on the rollout of new products and holiday items

• Work with Category Management to send out a monthly supply letter

• Assist with purchase of raw goods

• Track inventory close to code date, communicate with Sales, and send fresh to frozen as needed

• Identify shortages/overages on a weekly basis and communicate to other departments

• Track unplanned short shipments and communicate with warehouse to resolve

• Communicate via phone, email and occasional visits with plants

• Determine weekly allocations for shipments out of Cashton

• Communicate fresh beef orders and excess with Sales, Pools and Production to ensure the continuous flow of product

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Research and correct inventory discrepancies as assigned

• Create purchase orders, transfers and shipping documents for raw material purchases

• Occasional backup for production facilities; assisting in transfers, lot management, entering inventory, verifying invoices, and entering purchase orders

• Assist QA in the approval of products via COA’s when needed

• Assist production with data entry when needed

• Work closely with the Operations team to make sure plans are executed

• Serve as an ambassador and advocate for the OMC team on special projects

• Work with Customer Service on customer order exceptions

• Work with Sales Support and Production on Sample Orders 

• Manage and update holiday turkey orders

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or related field preferred;

or 3 years work experience in related field

• Experience with production and inventory management preferred

• High proficiency in Outlook and Excel required

• Experience in ERP and/or SAP as well as working knowledge of Red Prairie preferred

• Meat experience preferred

• Ability to achieve a high level of accuracy

• Dedicated team player

• Highly motivated and able to work independently

• Strong organization skills

• Ability to manage and organize a wide range of projects and priorities

• Ability to identify and research problems

• Ability to travel occasionally to visit plant partners

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
