The Perlman Music Program, an educational classical music program for outstanding string players led by Toby and Itzhak Perlman, is seeking a full-time Production and Communications Coordinator.

Founded by Toby Perlman in 1994, The Perlman Music Program (PMP) offers unparalleled musical training to young string players of rare and special talent. With a world-class faculty led by Itzhak Perlman and a signature summer program on Shelter Island, PMP is developing the future leaders of classical music within a nurturing and supportive community. The Perlman Music Program is changing the face of classical music with a network of over 700 alumni worldwide.

As an established NYC-based non-profit, The Perlman Music Program seeks a creative and collaborative individual to coordinate events and shepherd public engagement. This role is crucial to the efficient production of PMP events and the execution of the Program’s marketing and communications efforts.

The full-time Production and Communications Coordinator will report to the Executive Director, and assist the Executive Director, Program Manager and other key staff in planning, publicizing and executing PMP programs and events. The ideal candidate will be passionate about classical music and the musicians’ community, creative and a self-starter, who will be actively involved in defining and developing this role. The position will require work onsite on Shelter Island, NY, as well as full-time, flexible weekly hours in the off-season in the Program’s NYC office, with occasional weekends and evenings. During visits to Shelter Island, travel costs will be reimbursed, meals will be provided, and optional housing will be offered.

Responsibilities include:

Manage an interdepartmental production and communications calendar, tracking organizational timelines for programmatic, fundraising, and public initiatives.

In tandem with the Development Coordinator, co-manage public events in NYC and on the East End of Long Island, where the PMP campus is located. Facilitate campus guest policies, online screening processes, and ticketing / RSVP systems.

Facilitate front of house at public events: design and print materials, welcome guests, and assist as an usher. In a typical year, PMP will present 5-7 evening events in NYC, and approximately 20-25 events on the East End (mainly consisting of evening concerts during the summer months).

Develop and maintain relationships with audience members, vendors, press contacts, and collaborative presenting partners.

Point person for all communication and media initiatives, responsible for the PMP website, weekly digital newsletters, alumni news research, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), media archives, among others.

Draft and coordinate print/digital projects including the Annual Reports, press releases, concert programs, the Summer Calendar, concert posters, and alumni newsletters.

Other duties as assigned.
