Job Summary

The Risk Market Analyst will be responsible for working within the wholesale and retail market teams to evaluate EDF’s portfolio risk and risk profile. This position will utilize different risk evaluation methodologies and models for major desk positions in the gas and power markets.

Responsibilities

  • Support risk identification and quantification for both retail and wholesale energy businesses
  • Work with other risk staff, trading desks, marketing, origination, and management to quantify the risk profile of trades, positions, books, desks, and the overall company
  • Proactively analyze the risk in the company’s portfolio across commodities, instruments, and geographies
  • Prepare analysis as directed by the manager and generally contribute to the activities of Front Office Risk for management
  • Interact regularly with commercial functions to understand markets, trends, and other challenges and opportunities in a risk context for open exposures and contemplated positions or deals
  • Assess risk/reward balance for existing positions and contemplated positions
  • Provide support for risk systems development and testing and promote efficiencies where possible
  • Work across functional teams to maintain a robust control environment and manage business process change

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline
  • A minimum of one internship at an energy trading or financial institution
  • SQL, Python, Matlab, or R coding skills are highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of energy risk metrics/models is desirable
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel and VBA
