Summary:

This position, reporting to the Executive Director, Business Strategy & Analytics, is responsible for creating and maintaining business intelligence dashboards that will lead to data-driven, strategic insights, and recommendations that drive the Nationals’ profitability. The Manager, Business Intelligence is also responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure on which the Nationals’ analytical layer is developed. This position will require knowledge and ability to build data processes that generate insights to inform near-real-time decision-making. The ideal candidate will understand systems architecture, relational database, and corresponding visualization tools, such as Tableau and Looker. Strong written and oral communications skills will be required in producing documents to be presented to senior Nationals executives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain insightful business intelligence dashboards deployed across all Nationals revenue and marketing departments
  • Support revenue and marketing departments through key observations, insights, and recommendations from internal and external data sources
  • Collaborate with Major League Baseball on the joint data infrastructure initiative across both League-owned and Club-owned assets
  • Build database structures and views in Google BigQuery that enable near-real-time visualizations
  • Manage external and internal stakeholders to complete data integrations and management for the Customer Data Platform
  • Conduct analyses to deliver business insights, covering a variety of topics such as marketing effectiveness, new business pro forma P&L, and retail and concessions profitability
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, with major in engineering, business, finance, or economics preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, finance, or business intelligence preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required
  • Proficiency in Tableau, Looker, and/or similar data visualization tool required
  • Proficiency in SQL required
  • Proficiency in cloud structure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform) preferred
  • Proficiency in Python APIs preferred
  • Ability to extract key insights from large, unstructured datasets and synthesize into key recommendations for leadership
  • Knowledge of P&L structures and levers to optimize revenues and costs, especially in dynamic consumer markets
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to tailor key messages to the appropriate audience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability–a self-starter
  • Utmost standards of integrity in all business dealings
  • Position will require some weekend and/or evening work
