The Main Responsibilities

Our Database Administrator Intern will be able to: 

• Participate in the design and implementation of physical databases 

• Participate in the evaluation and recommendations on Database Platform software and supporting software. 

• Research, analyze and recommend database configuration changes to ensure data integrity, stability, and performance. 

• Participate in the definition and execution of data management processes and procedures relative to physical database management. 

• Monitor the integrity, performance, and stability of the databases they are assigned and provides appropriate written and verbal reports. 

• Design, implement, document, and execute backup and recovery plans for all assigned databases according to corporate standards. 

• Create, Update and Revise any database administration documentation according to internal policies and procedures. 

• Apply changes to Development, Testing and Production environments within agreed upon SLA window. 

Ideal candidate should be enrolled in a degree program such as Computer Science, Management Information System (MIS) or another computer/data/technology course of study.  

The Internship Program will offer interns an opportunity to have a variety of experiences through meaningful work assignments, observation opportunities, and social interactions. Our goal is to provide each intern with a thorough understanding of Lumen. 

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023.
  • Education/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or similar technical degree field is preferred.
  • Position will be located in our Littleton, CO Office. OR remote during the 10 week internship
  • Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple tasks 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience or Introduction to Database Management system (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Experience or Introduction to NoSQL (DataStax) a plus 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and work in a changing fast paced environment
  • US work authorization
