Financial Management Analyst 

GS-0501-07 

 

Position Summary: 

Incumbents of this entry level position receive developmental assignments designed to increase the employee’s knowledge and understanding of the functions of budget, accounting, and financial management. Incumbent may receive on-the-job and/or classroom training in the application of concepts, principles, practices and procedures in a variety of financial administration and management duties. This is a career developmental position and has the promotion potential to the GS-0501-09 level and GS-0501-11 position. Full Performance Level GS-12 

 

Duties:  

Assist in the performance of functions such as formulation of budget and cost estimates to support plans, programs and activities; 

Review budget requests, control and reporting of obligations and expenditures.  

Develop, determine and interpret budgetary policies and practices.  

Perform assignments designed to develop knowledge of financial management programs, policies and methods.  

Receive guidance from a senior analyst or supervisor who provides specific instructions on the methods to follow and the results expected in terms of the form and content of finished reports on analytical studies.  

Research guides to locate accounting, budgetary and financial information and prepares summaries for use by higher-graded analysts.  

Prepares preliminary budget estimates, financial reviews for programs 

Under the guidance of supervisor or senior financial analyst, performs specialized work involving managerial or administrative work in connection with accounting systems, analytical, forecasting and interpretative functions associated with management and control of resources or funds.  

 

Position Requirements: 

Transcripts showing a minimum of 2.95 GPA 

Obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance 

2019 Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Management, Finance) 

Knowledge and skill of commonly used budgetary, accounting and/or financial administration practices, procedures, regulations and organizational policies. 

Skill in analyzing and interpreting policy and applying it to specific areas of work 

Ability to achieve Financial Management Level 1 Certification within prescribed timeframes.
