Annual Salary Range: $83,865.60 to $99,236.80

 

Job Summary 

 The Business Intelligence Architect has the overall responsibility for assessing requirements and defining the strategy, technical architecture, implementation plan, and delivery of data warehouse projects for major organizations. The Business Intelligence Architect must have prior experience leading successful data warehousing implementations as well as a broad background and experience with IT application development. This individual is responsible for establishing the long-term strategy and technical architecture as well as the short-term scope for a multi-phased data warehouse effort. This person must have strong professional consulting skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization. 

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Define key business drivers for the data warehouse initiative.
  • Deliver a project scope that directly support the key business drivers.
  • Define the overall data warehouse architecture (e.g., ETL process, ODS, EDW, Data Marts).
  • Define technical requirements, technical and data architectures for the data warehouse.
  • Recommend/select data warehouse technologies (e.g., ETL, DBMS, Data Quality, BI).
  • Find generate executive level support for the data warehouse initiative & direct the discover process.
  • Design and direct the ETL process, including data quality and testing.
  • Design and direct the information access, delivery effort, and implementation of security requirements for the data warehouse.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Current resident of the United States.
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering with at least five (5) years of Technical experience with self-service BI, BI Tools, SQL, and Data integration and five (5) years of Data Architect role is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software application, such as word processing and spreadsheets is required.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20lbs and push/pull up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis. 
  • Working overtime, weekends, on rotating shifts may be required.

Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Strong communication skills and business acumen. Agile BI experience. Technical experience with data modeling self-service BI, BI tools, SQL and data integration. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Ability to multi-task. Business knowledge of healthcare – related data. Strong sense of urgency and ability to re-prioritize in a fast-paced, ever-changing landscape. Familiar with common and modern data warehouse approaches and some basic understanding of spatial data architecture concepts. Exchange of basic information with internal and/or external contacts. Maintain sensitive or confidential information. Explain and gather information, answer queries, and aide internal and/or external contacts. Persuade, conform, or recommend course of action with internal and/or external contacts. Perform with a high degree of authority in securing understanding and cooperation with internal and/or external contacts. Maintain a continuing working relationship that can have a significant effect on the success of the organization. Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, report short correspondence and memos. Speak effectively before both internal and/or external groups. Read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, scientific/technical journals and procedures, government regulations, financial and legal documents. Prepare and/or present written communications that pertain to controversial and complex topics. Makes minimal decision-making responsibility. Makes decisions of responsibility involving evaluation of information; decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents. Understand and follow instructions. Execute decisions within limits of standard policy and procedures. Interpret and adapt to established practices and procedures using independent judgement to meet situations to which applications are not clearly defined. Perform within difficult or complex working conditions or situations not easily evaluated; decisions require considerable judgement, initiative, and ingenuity in areas there is little precedent.

Note: This position is open to those authorized to work in the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain throughout employment. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources to rank applicants on the eligible list for this position.
