Description

Roark is seeking a Business Development Analyst to assist in origination efforts across the firm. This role will have the opportunity to shape the investments of Roark by working with senior investment professionals to define, design, and oversee sourcing related activities. This role will work closely with the Business Development team and collaborate across the firm to source new investment opportunities.

The Business Development Analyst plays an instrumental role driving the sourcing framework of Roark (strategy, approach, research, systems, structure). S/He will also ensure the Sourcing function is partnering with senior investment professionals and coordinating firm activities to drive “real” investment opportunities.

The successful placement will have experience in conducting extensive industry and company specific research and developing reports to track activity. An entrepreneurial spirit and strong motivation to be successful in our industry will be highly valuable. Additionally, strong CRM management with a proven ability to leverage and integrate technology into core business processes will be necessary to demonstrate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess new opportunities through the lens of Roark investment criteria
  • Perform desktop research on new investment themes and targets (company, management team, owners, etc.)
  • Conduct extensive industry research and develop reports
  • Track sourcing related KPIs across the entire firm
  • Track activities in CRM database in coordination with other team members
  • Manage internal CRM reporting, producing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Attend relevant industry conferences
  • Assist with business development, marketing, and strategic planning with a primary focus on driving business growth objectives across the financial transaction practice
  • Analyze and report on progress of all marketing objectives
  • Provide hands-on marketing and business development support including the preparation of pitches, proposals, RFPs/RFIs, and marketing collateral
  • Analyze market research to identify business development opportunities and competitive advantages
  • Assist in managing relationships with investment banks and other financial intermediaries
  • Participating in deal sourcing, capital raising process, and campaigns
  • Complete data analysis related to deal sourcing to drive mutual accountability with investment banks
  • Create and distribute of marketing collateral and thought leadership pieces

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 0-2 years’ business development experience in the legal, management consulting, professional services or financial services industry
  • General knowledge of financial and capital markets
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to process and summarize complex information required
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and achieve measurable results
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing and presentation skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Resourceful, motivated and driven with a “can do” attitude
  • Willingness to work overtime, including occasional weekends required
  • Domestic travel, although infrequent, may be required
