TITLEArea LeaderLOCATIONGrandview, WAREPORTS TOPlant ManagerKEY RESPONSIBILITIESManages teams of hourly technicians to achieve daily production requirements.Ensures that the production employees have the capability and resources to meet established performance goals.Uses strong problem-solving skills to identify losses and develops plans and strategies to eliminate losses in areas of safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.Understands the operation and applies a system view to the material and equipment flow; uses systems that allocate employees or equipment with and/or across assets.Leads and motivates employees in development, application, and tracking of standards and objectives.Works closely with managers, plant engineering, and technicians to solve problems and improve the department.Develops technician skills within department, oversees training and qualification programs for new hires, hourly technicians, and team leaders.Manages time and attendance for teams (including payroll approval).Manages personnel issues, i.e., vacation planning, staffing, temporary employee staffing, training plans, and conflict resolution.Administers all aspects of the collective bargaining agreement in a fair and equitable way.Other tasks as requiredSELECTION CRITERIAEducationBachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical Field preferredPrevious experience leading, supervising, or managing others in a manufacturing environment may be substituted for a degreeExperiencePrevious experience in a manufacturing environment is required; food manufacturing experience is preferredMinimum of 3 years of experience leading, supervising, or managing others is preferredPrevious people management experience is a plusOtherAbility to work well with people and resources both internal and external to siteProficient computer skillsEffective presentation, verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skillsExcellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skillsAble to prioritize work in a high demand work environment and continually focus on multiple tasks at handPossess the passion to train and motivate othersStrong Supervisory and Leadership SkillsUnderstanding of processing equipment and its key components is preferredUnderstanding of good manufacturing practices and procedures is preferredPrevious union experience a plusWillingness to work a flexible schedule that most effectively supports the organizationWillingness to work off-shifts or weekends as needed
