The VTrans Construction & Materials Bureau (CMB), e-Construction Section has an exciting job opportunity in the emerging area of e-Construction. The CMB is looking for a motivated individual to assist in identifying and employing e-Construction technologies that are readily available to the transportation communities in order to modernize the CMBs business process. Additionally, to provide support to all CMB staff in the areas of data maintenance and integrity as well software and hardware support.

This initiative aims to increase the effectiveness of VTrans construction and materials staff by improving communication and collaboration, both internally as well as with external partners, using business process improvement techniques, automation, and digital technology. This initiative also seeks to establish a framework of continuous improvement in order to keep the CMB on the leading edge of e-construction technology. The successful candidate will collaborate with VTrans personnel, ADS IT specialists, the contracting and material production community, as well as other VTrans stakeholders. This candidate will lead efforts to maximize the use of existing e-Construction tools.

The successful candidate will also support the effort to identify and employ e-Construction technologies that are readily available to the transportation communities in order to modernize the CMBs business process. As an example, this candidate will work to apply and establish construction document management policies and technologies with the goal of improving communication and eliminating a cumbersome paper-based process. This will include coordination and involvement in the development, implementation, and support of the new Construction Management System (CMS). Duties may include user testing and training, maintenance and verification of system data, as well as communication, coordination with a variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure business requirements are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, statistics, data science, geographic information systems, computer science, or closely related field.

OR

Associates degree in engineering, statistics, data science, geographic information systems, computer science, or closely related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience including one (1) or more of the following areas: statistical analysis, policy analysis, data science, data analysis, geospatial analysis, quality management, project/program management, program, or policy development.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) or more years of work experience including one (1) or more of the following areas: performance management, statistical analysis, data science, data analysis, geospatial analysis, quality management, project/program management, program, or policy development.
