Job SummaryThe Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR), an organization within the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is responsible for the design, monitoring and statistical analysis of clinical trials and observational studies for several major NIH-funded clinical research networks. CBAR employs over 70 statisticians and epidemiologists including Harvard faculty, research scientists and staff. CBAR researchers have provided statistical leadership and support for clinical research networks for more than twenty-five years. Currently this includes infectious disease networks such as: the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Groups (ACTG), the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network (IMPAACT), and the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS). Results from studies have helped to establish the paradigm for the treatment and prevention of HIV and other infectious diseases, and contributed to US and international treatment and prevention guidelines.Job-Specific ResponsibilitiesCBAR is looking to hire a Statistical Analyst/Programmer for studies undertaken by the ACTG and/or IMPAACT. This position is responsible for statistical analysis and programming support for clinical trials and observational studies, including all aspects of work from study development through monitoring; interim, primary and secondary analyses; and dissemination of results.The Statistical Analyst/Programmer will work with study protocol teams to further the infectious diseases research mission of CBAR and collaborating researchers. Under guidance of a senior statistician/epidemiologist, duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with statistical analysis and programming activities for individual studies and cross-study efforts; providing statistical programming solutions and ensuring their efficient implementations under supervision and consistent with standard operation procedures; helping to determine and develop approaches to technical solutions; producing accurate and reliable results; maintaining awareness of and familiarity with various risks associated with a study and the impact on the quality of deliverables; managing timelines and scope based on resourcing and priority constraints; and building and maintaining effective working relationships with collaborating researchers and study team members. The Statistical Analyst/Programmer role will:Support development of study case report forms and study registration/randomization materialsUndertake programming to create datasets for statistical analyses and document datasetsAssist with quality assurance of study dataProvide input into the statistical analysis plan and creation of table, figure, and listing specifications, collaborating with the lead biostatistician/epidemiologist in order to provide high quality statistical analysesUndertake programming to create tables and figures for study monitoring and analysis reports, and to undertake statistical analyses to address study research questionsAssist with drafting of study analysis reportsWork on committees to advance statistical analysis and programming activities in CBAROther duties as assignedCBAR provides a strong program for growth and professional development for Statistical Analyst/Programmers including a defined career path with opportunities to progress within our biostatistician or statistical programming career tracks.
