Help us Advance Japan Through DataTo have truly impactful projects it will take a combined effort between an interdisciplinary team that includes both data scientists and engineers. As one of our machine learning engineers, you will ensure that our entire team can work in an environment where they can fully leverage their potential by building tools and infrastructure that accelerates data analytics and model development. To do so, you should have an eye for the possible inefficiencies in the current Jinch or client infrastructure being used to analyze and train ML models. You’ll also ensure that we have state-of-the-art technologies and algorithms in place and leverage your skills to make sure we deliver clean and fast code. We also expect that you will architect code to modern standards in order to apply it across a variety of client situations. Finally, as a project matures, you will construct reliable and automated ML pipelines. If you’re ready to work hard, think differently, and change Japan for the better then we hope you’ll join us! Background & SkillsWe are looking for team players with excellent quantitative abilities that also bring the following tangible and soft skills:Tangible Skills:-       Engineers with a bachelors, masters or PhD in computer science, economics, engineering, or similar fields. –       Strong coding skills. We are looking for people who can write clean, effective, and production-ready code regardless of the frameworks that you’ve used. –       A good familiarity with data structures, storage systems, analytical frameworks, and related technical tools.-       An understanding of how technical decisions impact end users-       Experience in coding and working with data using: –       C++, Python, R, Java, MATLAB, or similar languages. –       Not necessary, but nice to have: –       Understanding of common machine learning and causal inference techniques.-       Experience working with large and messy real-world data sets.Soft Skills & Mindset: –       Ability to see solutions and opportunities that others do not see paired with an entrepreneurial spirit to implement said solutions and opportunities, even if not directed to do so-       Collaborative approach of teamwork and knowledge sharing-       High level of commitment plus a good balance of pragmatism and perfectionism-       Preference for Japanese language fluency, but we will look at all exceptional candidates.
