The role will support inbound and/or outbound flow of goods to our assets in Salt Lake City, Utah and Boron, California. The Analyst’s responsibilities fit broadly into two main categories 1) managing the day-to-day operational movement of products from Rio Tinto’s assets to customers and warehouses; and 2) acting as an analytical back-up to the rest of the logistics operations team by identifying cost and process improvement opportunities. More specificallyOperations ManagementEnsure shipments and payments are flowing in a timely manner to the customerIdentify and actively seek methods to sustainably eliminate bottlenecksCost ImprovementDevelop business improvement ideas, participate in implementation and ensure the value delivered is being capturedDrive improvement through data analytics and innovationAssist with development of tools/systems to automate reporting and measurement and monitor RTL value add/cost performanceInterface with key stakeholders and other teams to gather transform, load and analyze dataOwn the design, development and maintenance of ongoing KPIs, reports and dashboards to drive key business decisionsCompile operations and cost reports with inputs from modal specialists and operations team for reporting of cost and service delivery reports to stakeholdersImplement and adopt best practices in analysis and reportingProcess ImprovementIdentify opportunities to automate and optimize manual tasks and lead the implementation of new solutionsCoordinate with Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing and Operations teams to identify, capture and evaluate improvement opportunities and propose improvement initiatives focussed on value optimisationAbout YouTo be successfully considered for this role, you will haveExcellent analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions and insights from incomplete data setsA drive to improve the business and identify opportunitiesInterpersonal, communication & negotiation skillsAdvanced Excel & PowerPoint skillsGood supply chain & logistics knowledge with an ability to generate ideas for improvement opportunitiesFinancial analysis capabilityAdvanced data visualizations tools an asset (R, Power BI, Tableau)Experience in>3 years in a process improvement/business analytics role or operational roleGenerating and implementing outcomes to improve workflows and processes to increase efficiency and eliminate wasteBachelors level qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Accounting or similarManagement consulting experience is preferredAbout UsAs pioneers in mining and metals, we produce materials essential to human progress.Aluminium for cars and smartphones.
