Job Overview This is a great opportunity for learning and gaining business development skills! As a Business Development Intern, you will support the Business Development Team and CEO in the development of new business opportunities. This position is focused on building partnerships in various ways; performing market research, creating marketing materials and actively reaching out to companies and individuals in order to grow our business. Responsibilities• Conduct in-depth research on new business leads and prospects, providing up-to-date tracking and reporting on lead conversion rates.• Conduct comprehensive company research with the core business development team for use in RFP response plans.• Collaborate with Sales and Strategy teams to generate overarching strategic direction of new business pitches.• Support preparation for capabilities meetings including creating custom materials, logistics around location, etc.• Research and analyze industry/market trends, new business opportunities using various researches and forecast methodologies.• Research and identify potential partnerships, sourcing contact information.• Seek and analyze competitor sales materials both on and offline.• Maintain tracking report of public relations activity.• Provide support to social media efforts.• Learn both inbound and outbound marketing/business development efforts.• Maintain administrative tasks as necessary – e.g., case study development, database development, etc.• Research, develop, manage, and enhance a database of prospective clients utilizing a variety of different tactics.• Conduct calls to prospect clients What you will gain:• A deeper understanding of the engineering/ construction industry• Exposure to the RFP process (from the identification of the opportunity to proposal development to project implementation)• Exposure to all phases of contracting in multiple sectors • An understanding of government agencies Requirements:• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing/communications/business.• Must be in Junior or Senior year of college.• Ability to work 20+ hours per week in Birdi’s Pasadena office• Persistent, positive attitude toward following up and tracking progress.• Self-motivated with a process and data-driven mindset.• Solid written, verbal, presentation and analytical skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, and Power Point).• Ability to collaborate effectively as a team member.• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Birdi Systems, Inc.
