ATA is seeking applicants to serve as an Astronomical Research Intern for the Advanced Electro-Optical and Infrared (EOIR) Sensors Program and will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a very dynamic environment. The intern’s duties will include astrometric simulation, test and analysis. Duties will be fulfilled in lab and in the field.The successful candidate must be entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in a graduate degree program in a relevant degree program. Prior experience with advanced electro-optical telescopes and sensors is highly desirable.Required: · Enrollment in undergraduate or graduate degree program for Engineering/Scientific (e.g. Astronomy). Discipline from an accredited four-year university. · Relevant engineering degrees include mechanical, electrical, and aerospace engineering.· Relevant scientific degrees include physics, EAPS, and mathematics. · Experience in design, fabrication, operations and testing of telescopes and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) Sensors.· Experience with systems engineering of advanced electro-optic (EO) and infrared (IR) sensor systems.· Eligible to obtain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security ClearanceDesired: · Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Scientific (e.g. Astronomy) Discipline from an accredited four-year university is preferred.· Current access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs are desired.· Experience with the Systems Engineering techniques and applications implemented on Department of Defense and National Systems.
