IEOR Welcomes New Advisors Will McDaniels and Heather Iwata

The Department of Industrial Engineering & Operations Research at the University of California, Berkeley is excited to welcome two new advisors to the department, Will McDaniels and Heather Iwata.

Will McDaniels will serve as the department’s undergraduate advisor, helping students pursuing bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees in industrial engineering & operations research and operations research & management science.

Will comes with five years of experience in an academic advisor role at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Will holds a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Master of Business Administration from South College.


Heather Iwata is the department’s new graduate advisor. She will focus on serving students in IEOR’s master of science, master of engineering, and PhD programs. 

Heather has worked on campus for over 11 years at the School of Optometry and the Department of Economics, collectively, where she worked on admissions and student affairs.

Heather holds a B.A. in Communication and Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and a master of arts degree in Counseling and Guidance from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
