Course Topics (tentative)
The course will introduce basic statistical techniques such as parameter
estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, design of experiments,
analysis of variance and non-parametric statistics. Application of these
statistical techniques in manufacturing and other Engineering systems will be
one of the main focus of this course. Specific applications in statistical process control, quality
control and forecasting will be considered in detail. Process and quality
control using x-bar, moving average, cumulative sum and range charts and
forecasting based on moving averages, exponential smoothing and regression
analysis will be studied.
