Master of Engineering Program

Master of Engineering (MEng)

Are you looking to learn leadership skills while deepening your technical foundation? The one-year Berkeley Master of Engineering Program could be a great fit for you. In contrast to the Master of Science degree, the Master of Engineering (MEng) is an applied degree combining business-oriented coursework with applications-focused industrial engineering and operations research courses. It is intended to prepare students for professional practice.

Application Result

If your application is successful, the IEOR department will notify you that you have been recommended for admission. Only the Dean of the Graduate Division can offer admission and send the official admission letter. You have not been officially admitted until you have received the official admission letter from the Dean.

Normally, admission letters will be issued by mid-March.

IEOR department does not require official transcripts at the time of submitting the application. For review and decision purposes we accept electronic versions of academic records. They are considered "unofficial". Unofficial transcripts and other required academic records should be uploaded, in PDF format, with the application. If an offer of admission is made, applicants will be required to send to the Graduate Division the official paper documents for verification.

Electronic Recommendation Letters

Letters of Recommendations will be collected electronically as part of the Online Application. Paper copies of recommendation letters are not admissible, and will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Please be sure to notify your recommenders accordingly.

Your recommenders are asked to give their personal impressions of your intellectual ability, your aptitude in research or professional skills, your character, and the quality of your previous work and potential for future productive scholarship.
