Shailendra Jain is a Distinguished Technologist and Research Manager at HP Labs. At HP, Dr. Jain established and managed the Decision Technology Department, a group of applied researchers focused on business process innovation through analytics. Dr. Jain has led business analytics projects in several areas, including inventory management & production planning, forecasting, personalization, marketing spend optimization, product variety management, workforce optimization, post-sales services design & pricing optimization. He also established HP Experimental Economics program and Auction research program at HP Labs. Over the years both of these research programs have created significant business benefits for HP. Most recently, the successful deployment of tools for product variety management, in several businesses of HP and the resulting business benefits of over $500M have been recognized by the Edelman Prize of INFORMS for HP during 2009. The optimization technology development & deployment for this project was led by Dr. Jain at HPLabs. Currently, he is leading the applied research efforts of HPLabs in service innovation area, with specific emphasis on work-force planning/optimization & break-fix services design and pricing. Dr. Jain represents HP on INFORMS Roundtable. Dr. Jain holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from UCLA and Masters in Industrial Engineering from IIT, Delhi.
